Elder William “Chris” Harris is passionate about ministry and the Word of God. Roman’s 1:16 says, "“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth"”. Elder Harris understands the principles of merging tradition with vision and purpose to keep ministry affective and progressive. Without reservation to God’s call, Elder Harris, obediently accepted his appointment as Assistant Pastor of Brown’s Faith Temple Church of God in Christ and is in covenant agreement with his wife Mrs. Jocelyn Harris. In infancy, Elder Harris was prophesied to concerning the calling upon his life as One of God's chosen elects to serve in ministry. At an early age, Elder Harris accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and received the baptism of the Holy Ghost and was fascinated with the Word of God and would prayerfully read and study the scriptures. Much of his instruction and training came from within the home with both parents (Elder Rufus and Missionary Mary Harris) being active in ministry.
As a testament of God’s unmerited favor, Elder Harris strayed away from God but never from the church, until 1998 when he acknowledged his prodigal son experience and rededicated his life back to Christ. Elder Harris began to grow and develop more; having the unction that there is more that God wanted him to do. In 2000 he accepted the call to ministry and began to pursue more after God. In 2005, Elder Harris obtained his minister’s license under Pastor Governor Harris (recognized as his spiritual father in the gospel) at Brown’s Faith Temple COGIC; and within a short period of time he was ordained an Elder under his pastor and Bishop H.E. Cawthon of the Southern Illinois Jurisdiction in 2007.
Elder Chris Harris has been faithful to both the ministry and to the leadership of Pastor Governor Harris who mentors and tutors many young men in ministry; including his nephew Bishop Darrell Hines of Christian Faith of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; to the which he is the chief advisor to that ministry. In 2008, Elder Harris envisioned a massive praise and worship experience that would empower the common masses throughout the St. Louis Metropolitan area; this experience is the (Inner) Man on Fire Conference. Elder Chris Harris understands the importance of outreach and with his wife in agreement and pastor’s approval, in 2009 Elder Harris established Life Empowerment Outreach Ministries (L.E.O.) to personalize his endeavor to be ever so ready to avenge the gospel of Jesus Christ. In 2010 Elder Harris established LEO Campus Ministries on the campus of Lewis & Clark Community College in Godfrey, Illinois. Elder Harris and wife are now set and poised for fresh ministry mandates in reaching the unchurched, with LEO Ministries functioning at a whole new level!
